Baltic Sea Labour Network Project

Baltic Sea Labour Network (BSLN) is a transnational cooperation project of 22 partners and associated partners from 9 countries in the Baltic Sea Region. The project started in October 2008 and will continue until 2011. The project is partially financed by the European Union (European Regional Development Fund).

Working Together for Sustainable Labour Markets

Never before have employees, employers, politicians and governments worked together to create sustainable regional labour markets in Europe. The BSLN is built upon national and transnational tripartite collaboration and it provides a
BSLN Forum for decision and policy makers to combine knowledge and ideas in order to come up with strategies, policies and practical solutions.

One of the main objectives of the Baltic Sea Labour Network (BSLN) is to develop a Political Agenda for Sustainable Labour Markets in the Baltic Sea Region. The Agenda will be prepared in cooperation with employer organizations, trade unions, politicians, academics and various labour market experts. The BSLN Political Agenda will be a combination of strategies, policy recommendations and practical solutions developed during the duration of the project. The Agenda will be published at the end of the project.

The Role of the Council of Baltic Sea States (CBSS) in the BSLN -project

Sustainable labour markets are only possible if politicians and governments implement political recommendations. Therefore, the BSLN gives politicians and governments the possibility to collaborate with the social partners and to make use of the knowledge of labour market experts.

The Council of Baltic Sea States (CBSS) is a partner organization of the BSLN. It provides direct contacts to the governments of the Baltic Sea Region and thus creates one of the most important political dimensions of the BSLN.

The CBSS is represented in the project’s decision making structures: Steering Committee and Facilitator Team. The Council is actively working with the communication and organization involved in  the BSLN high level conferences. It helps find possible links and ideas for cooperative activities during the project duration.
